Mike and Doreen purchased their small 28 hectare farm 37 years ago when Mike and 4 other stock agents had started a livestock firm and wanted a farm and nice garden to bring their children up in.
Loch Leven has blossomed over the last 37 years, changing gradually from empty paddocks to the stunning paradise it is today.
Doreen and Mike have dedicated countless hours to cultivating this tranquil and expansive 1.2 hectare garden. Flowing lawns are shaded by beautiful deciduous trees and hugged by sweeping garden beds. A feature of the garden is the mass planting of viburnums, heritage shrubs, rhododendrons, hostas, perennials, roses and iris, creatively blended into wide flower-filled borders.
The garden seamlessly blends structured elements with native plantings, wire art sculptures and many locally sourced treasures.
A particularly beautiful part of the garden are the peony beds, created during lockdown in 2020. Nearby sits the summerhouse, the perfect place from which to enjoy this beautiful garden. Don’t miss the productive potager vegetable garden and espalier fruit trees.
The on-site nursery has a wonderful selection of plants Doreen has propagated.
The garden maintenance and care is shared by Doreen and Mike.
Picked with care
Loch Leven Nursery has expanded from supplying plants to local customers to selling at markets and fetes, and has now been successfully selling online for the past 15 years.
We specialise in growing large quantities of old fashioned and unusual perennials, not commonly seen in retail nurseries. We also grow some shrubs, topiaries and hedging. Viburnums do well in our climate and we have grown these all from cuttings.
Our plants are very hardy, the cuttings are taken from our garden and some are grown from seeds. We have a good knowledge of what grows well in these conditions and are passionate about what we do. So please feel free to ask questions.
We welcome you to visit our nursery and garden, here you will find the plants you have seen on the website and growing in our garden plus many more.

“I just wanted to say that we are very happy with our buxus plants. They arrived so quickly and were in great condition and are all now thriving in our garden. Your service, communication and prices were fantastic also.”
