Loch Leven Nursery is operated by Doreen Dryden and her family from their small farm in Rotherham, North Canterbury. The nursery fits in well with their other interests of rearing calves and deer on their farm and Michael's business as partner in a live stock firm.
The nursery has grown, firstly we supplied locals and then started selling at markets and fetes and have just recently seen the necessity to be online. We now specialise in growing large qunatities of buxus and lonicera hedging. Now our children are older, this has given us more time and we are ready to expand our nursery.
Our plants are very hardy, the cuttings are taken from our garden and propagated in a shadehouse and then potted on into a tunnel house in winter and shadehouse in summer. We have an excellent knowledge of what grows well in these conditions and are passionate about what we do. So please feel free to ask questions. We welcome you to visit our nursery and garden by appointment. We are in Rotherham, inland North Canterbury. From the Christchurch motorway it will take you approximately 70min to drive to our property. We are 25min before Hanmer Springs, so why not come for a visit and then go on to Hanmer for a hot swim.
Take the main road to Amberley, turn left at Waipara towards Hanmer Springs, drive through Culverden, approximately 2 km out of Culverden is a turn to the right sign posted 'Rotherham', 'Waiau', 'Kaikoura'. Turn right and as you go around the corner put on your trip meter, we are 7.14km down this road.The sign at the gate says "Loch Leven Nursery".
